Aamir Khan ’s wrestling drama Dangal and S.S. Rajamouli ’s Baahubali are the films which have heightened the Indian cinema standards with leaps and bounds. Dangal not only performed exceptionally well at the Indian markets while winning critical acclaimed but became the highest grossing Indian movie at the International front. Baahubali which is a two-part epic war drama followed the suit, it won hearts and also rung the box-office bells in India and abroad.

The box-office reports of both the films have been the talking point throughout as they managed to reach close to the unbelievable figure 2000 crores. Now, another feather is being added to their hat, as Dangal has become the first Indian film which is bought by Netflix and now Baahubali is sold for a bigger amount. Dangal is sold for Rs. 20 crores and Baahubali for Rs. 25.50 crores, claim the sources.

HindustanTimes published a report about a public statement which confirms the update. In an email statement, Jessica Lee, vice-president (communications), Netflix, said, “On the content front, we are doubling down on Indian investment to curate a compelling content library encompassing original and licensed titles. We are touching a pool of consumers with a great passion for diverse entertainment, offering global originals like Narcos, Stranger Things, The Crown and mainstream, star-driven Indian films that have wide appeal (e.g. our Shah Rukh Khan titles or recent acquisitions of top ones like Dangal and Baahubali).”

Producer of Baahubali , Yarlagdda also said in a statement, “We are very happy and excited to partner with Netflix. Theatrically, it’s not possible to reach all markets, but with this deal, Baahubali will reach 192 countries seamlessly.”

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is a wrestling drama based on the life of Indian wrestler Mahavir Phogat and his wrestler daughters Geeta and Babita Phogat. Aamir plays the wrestler dad in the film while his daughter’s roles have been essayed by debutants Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra. Baahubali part 1 and 2 stars Prabhas as Baahubali, Anushka Shetty as Devasena, Rana Daggubati as Bhallal Deva among other incredible actors.
