David Dhawan plans to remake ‘Chaalbaaz’ and guess who will be portraying Sridevi’s role?

Riding high on the success of ‘Judwaa 2’, director David Dhawan has a plan to remake the 1989’s super-hit film, ‘Chaalbaaz’. ‘Chaalbaaz’ was one of the biggest hits of 1989 and is remembered for the iconic performance of Sridevi, where she was seen in a double role. Though ‘Chaalbaaz’ was already a remake of the 1973’s film ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’, Sridevi completely nailed the role in the later film. And now, almost after 3 decades, another remake of the film is in the making and director David Dhawan wants Alia Bhatt to portray Sridevi’s role. After witnessing the success of ‘Judwaa 2’, Alia wanted to work with David in its third installment, but seems like the director had some other plans for her.

Recently, in a media interaction, Alia revealed, “When I had gone to him (David Dhawan), asking to be cast in the next installment of Judwaa, David sir told me ‘I have a better role for you in comparison to Judwaa 3’. The next time I told him about my wish again, he said ‘Not in Judwaa 3, you have to work with me in the Chaalbaaz remake’.”

Interestingly, even Sridevi feels Alia would be the right choice for ‘Chaalbaaz’. Talking to a leading daily, Sridevi had said in a statement, “And if it’s remade, the one actress who could fit in that double role of mine is Alia.”
