A magistrate had ordered the noted actor Raghubir Yadav to pay monthly alimony of INR 40,000 to his separated wife. The actor had moved the sessions court in October last year against an order of a magisterial court asking him to pay the maintenance saying that the actor was doing well in commercial cinema.
But now a court in Delhi has asked Raghubir Yadav to clear the dues he owed to his estranged wife in two months or else his plea would be dismissed.
T R Naval, the Additional Sessions Judge, granted time to Raghubir Yadav to pay the arrears to his separated wife. He said the actor that his revision petition would be heard on merits only after he complied with the magistrate's order.
The counsel appearing for the woman had told the court during the argument on the plea that the revision petition cannot be entertained unless Yadav deposits up to the arrears of alimony of over INR 10 lakhs.
The Delhi court observed that his petition may be "dismissed as not maintainable", if the dues are not deposited by Yadav.
