Apart from directing, Farhan Akhtar will also be seen playing a desi cop against Shah Rukh Khan in Don 3 and the shoot will commence in mid-2019.

The multi-talented Farhan Akhtar has shown us his acting, directing, and singing skills on many occasions, but the Don franchise is still considered as one of his most celebrated pieces of work. Ever since Don 2 hit screens in 2011, fans have been eagerly waiting for its third installment with Shah Rukh Khan again playing the anti-hero. Though Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani had earlier said that they are working on the script, it is now reported that Farhan has locked the final script of the film.

According to a report in a leading daily, Farhan Akhtar has apparently locked down the script for the movie and has got an approval from Badshah Khan as well. The daily quoted a source saying, “He had bounced the idea off to SRK, who liked it. Farhan had taken a break from acting and channelized all his energy into developing the script for this film of the Don franchise. He has finally locked the script and things are moving in the right direction.”

However, there’s a disappointment for all Priyanka Chopra fans. If the report is to be believed, PeeCee's character of Roma won't be needed in Don 3. “The storyline is such that it doesn’t need Priyanka’s character. It’s likely to have a new cast, which will be locked soon," the source added.

The report further reveals that the actor-director will also star in the third installment. Regarding this, a source revealed to the daily, "Farhan will also act in this film. He will play a desi top cop to Shah Rukh’s Don. Since a portion of the film will be set in India, Farhan will be seen donning the policeman’s uniform in the film.”

The film is expected to go on floors from mid-2019 and will hit the big screen in 2020.
