Farhan Akhtar & Shabana Azmi are planning to make a biopic on Javed Akhtar!

There is a new trend in Bollywood to make biopics on influential personalities with an interesting story. It was quite obvious that there would be at least one biopic be made on an inspirational Bollywood personality! Now as per the updated, Javed Akhtar , a poet-author-lyricist-activist-orator, will be the subject of a biopic and Farhan Akhtar and wife Shabana Azmi , have been planning a biopic on the veteran writer! And as per the sources, “It’s been an idea under progress for nearly three years. And now, it’s time to get going with the idea.” And the good news is, Farhan Akhtar would be directing and also be playing the lead role in the film.

Speaking about the biography and what inspired them to plan it, Shabana Azmi gave a slight insight on Javed Akhtar ’s journey, saying ‘It was on 4th October 1964, that Javed Akhtar arrived in Bombay at the age of 19 with two pairs of clothes, a few books and lots of dreams. This marks the 53rd year of that arrival. He slept on the streets, at Khar railway station, graduated to studio compounds, dressing rooms, Mahakali Caves and went without food for days. On his most desolate day, he told himself, “Things will change, I wasn’t born to die on the streets.” We can have nothing but unconditional respect for his indomitable will and for the person he is, rising above bitterness and anger to become the compassionate person he is. I am very proud of my Jadu.’

It is good that Bollywood anonymously following a trend to make biographies and suddenly we have so much source material available for the filmmakers to make good inspirational films. And Javed Akhtar ’s biography would be worth to check out since his life is filled with struggles, hardships while many inspiring incidents from his life which would make a great film to watch. And it is also good news for Farhan Akhtar fans as he will be returning to direction but, not for the Don franchise!
