It is always tricky to keep someone happy and impressed, especially if that someone is hurt by you, and one can do anything crazy to win back the trust and love of someone dear to you, so be it getting beaten up by Lathi! Yes! Apparently, director Shree Narayan Singh thought it would be a good twist in the story to use ‘Lath-Maar’ festival in his latest song from Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Gori Tu Latth Maar. The ‘Lath-Maar’ festival, which is a North-Indian festival, mostly in Mathura especially village like Barsana and Nandgaon, where women openly beat men, in front of the whole town in a cheerful manner! The whole song looks so colourful and blissful, and also a rare time when slow motion looks so great! Have Look!
As the narration suggests, Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) was upset to find that Mathura village is so frank with open defecation and she felt betrayed. Hence she returned to her parents’ house. So Keshav (Akshay Kumar) would do anything to win her back! The ritual of Lath Maar during the main festival of Holi and one intention is to take out frustration out of women, who might have feeling depressed by something. So Keshav thought this would be the best way to redemption and win her back. The Desi love ballet is beautifully voiced by Sonu Nigam and Palak Muchhal. It also gives a clear idea of how Keshav is determined to shut this concept of open defecation and make people build Toilets!
