Keshav (Akshay Kumar), a 36-years old man raring to get married, has many astrological problems in his kundali. To ward off some of the problems, his orthodox father makes him marry a buffalo. But when Keshav meets an educated and modern girl Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar), love blossoms between them after a few meetings and both decide to get married. But right after the first night when Jaya comes to know that not just Keshav, but the whole village has no toilet, she decided to leave. Keshav convinces her a lot, but after a few days Jaya finally leaves his house and goes back to her parents. How Keshav fights against the village to make toilets and brings back his wife is what forms the crux of the story.
