Ace comedian Kapil Sharma who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Firangi, recently spoke about the Padmavati controversy. Many superstars and film personalities have supported the film and filmmaker Bhansali regarding the storm. Karni Sena has been protesting against the film and has given out death threats to Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. A Karni Sena member threatened to behead Bhansali and chop off Deepika’s nose if the film is released. Kapil has always shown his admiration towards Deepika and spoke in support, in a recent media interaction.
Talking about the controversy, Kapil said, “Nobody has seen the Padmavati yet and I feel Censor Board is there is to look up into the matter. If there is anything object-able, then the board keeping in mind the sentiments of people, should remove it. I strongly condemn death threats given to artists. Artists are not at any fault, they just do their work.”
“But everyone has the right to express their opinions. Those who feel that the film has hurt their sentiments, have the right to express their opinions but death threats should not be given,” he added.
