The actress became a victim of demonetisation. "Despite having high fever, Kriti had been shooting for the film. But on Wednesday, she just collapsed. "We immediately rushed her to a private hospital in the city. While we could manage to make the payment in the hospital through credit cards, we didn't have money for her medicines! We all had just Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes and no chemist was ready to accept them." said a close source.

In order to procure medicines for the actress, the unit collected whatever money they had. The source added "Humne literally chanda ikattha kiya, but we were still falling short of the required amount. It was a panic situation for us but by then someone told us that big denomination notes were being exchanged for Rs 100 and Rs 50 notes in Chowk. We quickly sent some people there and thankfully we could exchange each 1000 rupee note for Rs 800. Finally, we could collect enough money for Kriti's medicines and give them to her,"

Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the comic caper Bareilly Ki Barfi also features Ayushman Khurana and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles.
