In 1991, Mahesh Bhatt gave one of the highly acclaimed films of the year, Sadak, which starred Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in the lead. The film was a romantic thriller and it dealt with a bold issue. The movie was so much loved and praised by the masses that a sequel to it was in constant demands. And now, after a gap of 27 long years, Mahesh Bhatt is finally ready with a script of its sequel but the second part will be helmed by his daughter, Pooja Bhatt. It is not confirmed that whether Sanjay will be there or not but reportedly Alia Bhatt has roped in as the female lead who will take the franchise ahead.
As per reports, Pooja and Sanjay had convinced Mahesh Bhatt to develop a script for Sadak 2. In fact, after he had completed the script for this sequel, Mahesh Bhatt had revealed that the sequel would focus on the modern-day scenario where the distinction between the house and the ‘Sadak’ is fast disappearing. If that wasn’t all, Bhatt had also stated that the script of Sadak 2 would make people believe in love at a time when it’s very easy to walk out of a relationship.
For Sadak 2, music will obviously be a big USP with two tracks by Jeet Ganguly already being finalized. The official announcement of the film and other details are expected to be made in the coming weeks.
While Alia is more or less confirmed as the female lead, the makers are on a hunt for a male lead opposite her.
