Ram Gopal Varma says that making " Sarkar " and " Sarkar Raaj " was possible only because of Bal Thackeray and he was also inspired from the Shiv Sena chief for some of the dialogues in the films.

RGV stated his belief by tweeting, "If Godfather was not there, I wouldn't have made ' Sarkar '...if Bala Saheb wasn't there, I couldn't have made ' Sarkar ' (sic),"

He tweeted further, "Many of the dialogue from both ' Sarkar ' and ' Sarkar Raaj ' are actually Bala Saheb's lines which I copied from what he said. He actually told me, 'Mujhe jo sahi lagta hai main wahi karta hoon!', which I copied and made Amitji ( Amitabh Bachchan ) say it in ' Sarkar ',"

Sarkar released in 2005, is a political crime thriller, starring superstar Amitabh Bachchan as the protagonist and the film also had Abhishek Bachchan , Katrina Kaif , Kay Kay Menon , Anupam Kher , Tanisha Mukherjee and Supriya Pathak .

It was followed by a sequel in 2008 called " Sarkar Raaj "
