Shankar Mahadevan has big musical dreams for India!

Bollywood’s eminent singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan has made a name for himself in the industry on the basis of sheer talent. His voice is a melody and his songs are magic! He is truly a gift for the Indian music industry! In a recent interaction with the IANS, the musician his big plans and dream for India and music. The man who has rendered his compositions to multiple blockbusters of Bollywood has an online music academy that has its reach in 72 countries.

Shankar Mahadevan feels the need to expand and have a world class music academy in India.“There is not even a single music academy in the country that we can be proud of. There is nothing world class here like Berklee, Juilliard or the New York School of Music that you can invite the international community to look at,” Shankar shares with IANS.

“We need a good music academy. That’s my vision. I wish to create the Harvard of Music in this country. That’s my aim,” he added. Talking of his online academy, he said: “It has been six years. If you search on the internet about learning music online, my academy comes number one. We are now teaching Indian classical music in 72 countries.”

Shankar Mahadevan also spoke about how music plays an important role in education. He wants music to be a part of education and schools. Children should learn it from an early age in schools. The singer also said about learning of music in the real sense of depth which is lacking. We hope he fulfills his dream and renders India an international level musical academy that the country men can boast of proudly!
