Sonam Kapoor opens up about her character and working with R. Balki in PadMan!

National Award Winning actress Sonam Kapoor who enthralled the audience in Neerja is once again gearing up to shine the big screen. Sonam will be next seen in R. Balki’s PadMan also starring Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte in key roles. In a media interaction, Sonam spoke about working with the filmmaker and her character in the upcoming film.

Padman is based on the inspirational story of Arunachalam Muruganatham, who invented low-cost sanitary napkins and brought awareness about unhygienic practices followed during menstruation in rural India. Akshay plays the lead role while Radhika Apte essays his on-screen wife. Sonam’s character is a tabla player by profession.

Sonam Kapoor said in a statement, “With Balki sir, I’ve been wanting to work since extremely long. I just love his work and I guess I always end up working with ad-film directors a lot.”

Sonam added, “This was a perfect project for me and him to work on with. Something I think is so important to talk about (Sanitary napkins). I can’t talk much more about it. But I’ve always wanted to work with him and I also love the character that I am playing.”

Written and directed by R. Balki, it is based on a chapter from Twinkle Khanna’s book ‘The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad’. The film is produced by Twinkle's production house Mrs. Funnybones Movies.
