Sudhir Mishra will show the modern ‘Devdas’ with his film ‘DaasDev’, starring Rahul Bhat, Richa Chadda, and Aditi Rao Hydari.
Writer-director Sudhir Mishra, who last directed ‘Inkaar’ (2013), is making his comeback with a feature film after 5 long years. The ace storyteller is bringing the modern day adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's classic novel, ‘Devdas’. Mishra’s film is titled, ‘DaasDev’ and is set against the backdrop of politics and a love triangle. ‘DaasDev’ stars Richa Chadda as Paro, Aditi Rao Hydari as Chandni (Chandramukhi) and Rahul Bhat as Dev (Babu). It is believed that Mishra’s adaptation of ‘Devdas’ also stars Saurabh Shukla, Anurag Kashyap (Guest appearance), Dalip Tahil, and Deepraj Rana in the pivotal roles and the movie will hit the screens on 16th February 2018.
Mishra’s is the latest inductee in the list of directors who have adapted Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's classic novel, ‘Devdas’ on the big screen. In the past, a total of 16 movies have been made based on the novel in Bengali, Hindi, Assamese, Telugu, Tamil, and Urdu languages. The novel was published a century back, i.e. in 1917 and the first movie based on the novel was made in 1928.
Many directors have successfully shown the novel in their unique ways and to see ‘Devdas’ based on a political satire will be more interesting.
