Critic Reviews
Untitled Document One Line Review: this film isn't what you think it is, it will throw up an unexpected twist. Positive Points: impressive character performances; a unique and unexpected plot; good direction and cinematography. Negative Points: considering the certification, the dialogues are too bold. Plot:The film takes the audiences through a roller coaster of accusations and counter accusations by the protagonists. The film is mainly set in the backdrop of a sexual harassment hearing taking place within the office. Maya Luthra (Chitrangda Singh) who works for another ad agency is hired by Rahul Verma (Arjun Rampal). Soon she becomes his protégé and turns out to be a talented copywriter. However, things turn ugly as the budding professional accuses her boss of sexual harassment. Mrs Kamdar (Deepti Naval), a social worker, takes to the matter and settles it out in the office. But things don't go as smoothly as they seem. There are strong allegations and counter-allegations from both the sides, making it difficult to conclude, whether who is in the right moral position. Apart from the serious accusation made by Maya, there is also a factor of power politics. Maya impresses her seniors with her talent, who is soon promoted to the position of 'national creative director' and also in the board of directors. Meanwhile Rahul Verma is fearful that his position as a CEO will be snatched. This where he counter accuses Maya of being manipulative to reach to the top. But the question lingers, whose statements hold truth? Is Maya really being sexually harassed? Or is she really manipulating so as to get to his position. Direction And Other Technical Aspects:The direction is certainly impressive. This comes as a fact as director Sudhir Mishra succeeds in capturing the total attention of the audiences right from the beginning till the end. Unlike other films based on the topic such as 'Aitraaz', which are nothing more than a direct to the conclusion plots, this one compels your mind to re-think. Cinematography is also very good and plays a vital part in retaining audience's interest. The film is also a visual delight. Music:The film's music is perfect given its plot and the situations shown in the film. Perhaps the best song in the film which can best describe the over-all film is 'Zindagi Ka Karobar' sung by R Mohan. The song feels more like a satirical track since its lyrics give more of a strong meaning to it. Then there is another one called 'Maula Tu Hi Malik Hai' by the duo Swanand Kirkire and Shantanu, which is played at the moment of intimate scenes by the protagonists. The music is a job done well with Shantanu Moitra as the music director. Performances:The performances are very impressive and succeed to give the audience a strong impression of a typical ad agency office atmosphere. Chitrangda Singh plays her role aptly, with the perfect depiction of young, liberal and ambitious woman who feels the trauma of being harassed. On the other hand, Arjun Rampal too portrays himself strongly as a CEO, who is confident, dashing, bold and getting straight to the point. Deepti Naval's performance as a social worker is also very good. The supporting cast also succeeds in delivering a perfect performance of that of employees of an ad agency. Final Verdict:Though the main frame of the film is a sexual harassment drama, it will throw up an unexpected climax which will definitely surprise you.
