Makers of Lipstick Under My Burkha asked women to post a selfie with Lipstick held behind middle finger to “Fight The Don't!”

Bollywood and its filmmakers are well involved in a race to coming up with new film promotional strategies and so far social networking sites became the main tool to make a film viral and serving better option than the traditional way of film promotions! So apparently, team of Lipstick Under My Burkha came up with an initiative to request women to feature in a selfie or photo of them holding a lipstick behind middle finger, preferably red or pink coloured, and post it under the hashtag #LipstickRebellion on social media, to join the movement to “Fight the Don’t.” And boy this trend is catching up!
Within in a few hours, women from every corner of globe stood up to support the cause and posted a selfie with their lipsticks. It all started with leading ladies cast of Lipstick Under My Burkha posting a selfie on social media to spark up the trend. And even many well-known celebrities like Aashka Goradia, Mouni Roy, Shruti Seth, Urvashi Dholakia and Zoya Akhtar took interest and joined the trend by posting such selfies!
In other case, people might have dis such efforts as attention seeking gimmick, but in this film’s case, which includes plot and story of four women from a small town realising their sexuality and exploring their sensuality! And since it is such a bold topic, CBFC took action and allowed to be in theatre under scrutiny, which itself caused quite a stir in media and the film received much-needed attention for its success!
The film features an ensemble cast of Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur, Sushant Singh, Vikrant Massey, Shashank Arora, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi and Jagat Singh Solanki. The film is directed by Alankrita Shrivastava and produced by Prakash Jha and will be presented by Ekta Kapoor!
