The makers of ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ approach Shraddha Kapoor to star opposite Shahid Kapoor!

Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ is one of the most talked about films of the recent times. The movie will be helmed by Shree Narayan Singh of ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ fame and the makers are on a hunt for the leading lady opposite Shahid Kapoor. Shree Narayan and KriArj Entertainment initially wanted Katrina Kaif opposite Shasha, but Katrina’s date issues and her commitment to Aanand L Rai’s film ‘Zero’ left the makers in no choice but to let her go. Now Shraddha Kapoor’s name is making the rounds as the new female lead. It is reported that the makers have now approached Shraddha for the film. A source close to the project says, “The makers recently got in touch with Shraddha. She has been briefed about the role.”

Shahid and Shraddha together worked in 2014’s film ‘Haider’. The film was helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj and got a brilliant critical response. “The producers were looking for an A-list heroine to be cast opposite Shahid, who plays a lawyer in the film. However, it will require some prep. Katrina couldn’t sign the film because she didn’t have the time to do so,” added the source.
