In a media interaction, actor Akshay Oberoi who also plays a role in the film says, “Saif and I are cast as brothers in one of the three stories in Kaalakandi. He has a fabulous role. So have I. It’s a story that unfolds in the course of one night. We’ve almost finished wrapping up the shooting. It is a completely wacky film and I loved shooting it.”

He further described the film and said, “Akshat’s film is a bit different than Delhi Belly. It’s darker, but still absolutely hilarious. The film has three stories. And it spans one night in Mumbai. It’s hard to even give a one-liner of the movie; it’s too complex/layered a film. Could be truly path breaking though.”

Saif Ali Khan also said in a statement: “Kaalakaandi is a film I’m so happy to be a part of. It’s a cross-section of Mumbai with underworld goons, doomed bankers and idealistic lovers all mixed together in this karmic tale about love, crime and living a lifetime in one night.”

Kaalakandi is helmed by Delhi Belly fame writer Akshat Verma and is a film that narrates three interesting tales. It is being produced by Cinestaan Film Company and Flying Unicorn. The film also stars Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Kunal Roy Kapoor and Neil Bhoopalam in pivotal roles. The upcoming movie has been scheduled to release on September 8, as per the early reports.
