Toilet: Ek Prem Katha being shown free in villages; Doordarshan to broadcast it!

Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar ’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha directed by Shree Narayan Singh is a really important film for the country. The way it talks about cleanliness, hygiene, open defecation without being preachy is the trick. Apart from the social message, Akshay also roots for the love story that it features! The film is doing really well at the box-office and is garnering all the love that it truly deserves! Experts are crediting it for breaking the dry spell that Bollywood films have been facing lately.

In a recent media interaction published in TOI , Akshay Kumar spoke about the film, its social message, and the love story! The best part that he shared is, TKPK is being shown in many villages for free by the government, which is the need of the hour. Also, our National TV channel which is mostly viewed in villages is keen to broadcast the film for maximum reach.

Here is what Akshay Kumar said, "This isn't my first social film, long ago I did a film called 'Khatta Meetha' which didn't do well on box office. It was about road construction and issues around it, but I think it takes time for people to get into a social mood. I never make a social film with lot of commercial material; I make sure that there is a love story. To be honest I remember the love story more than anything else in this (Toilet: Ek Prem Katha) film."

Talking about the broadcast he said: "Many places the government themselves are showing it... I have heard they are doing it currently in Haryana. Many villages in UP are screening the film. I just heard that even Doordarshan wants to show the film very soon so that maximum people can watch it as soon as possible."
