TWO women, TWO films, TOO much fun; Ekta Kapoor to do TWO films with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari!

Last year, many small budget movies did wonder at the box office and won all the major awards. One such film was Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari directed, Bareilly Ki Barfi. The comedy-drama was critically and commercially a successful movie and Iyer won a Filmfare Award for best director for the same. Though Iyer is still a new director in B-town, who has helmed just two films (BKB and Nil Battey Sannata), she has now signed a two-film deal with television queen, Ekta Kapoor. The 38-year-old director will now collaborate with Ekta Kapoor for two ventures out of which she will be directing one.

Ekta officially confirmed the news on Twitter, captioning, “Magic happens when creative women come together. Excited to collaborate with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. We are producing two films together, one of which will be directed by @Ashwinyiyer!”

Talking about it, Ekta stated, "I had seen Nil Battey Sannata and had messaged her appreciating it. Next, we met on a Chennai-bound flight, sitting one behind the other, where we roughly chalked out a plan to work together. Eventually, after months of exchanges, we’re here. When you have new talent, you mentor, but when you have a talent like Ashwiny, you ally with her because she brings something distinct to the table."

Expressing her gratitude about working with Ekta, Iyer tweeted, “There is so much more to films! Looking forward for this beautiful world of storytelling to evolve as @ektaravikapoor and I get our creative forces together for the pure love of cinema. Gratitude”

We know that Ekta will also produce a biopic on Dr Verghese Kurien but it will be directed by Shree Narayan Singh, so it will be awaited to see what her next movie will be about.
