Abhishek Dogra, who directed ‘Dolly Ki Doli’ in 2015, is coming with his new project ‘Fryday’ that stars the legendary comic actor Govinda. The film also stars Varun Sharma, widely known for his role as Chucha in the 2013 surprise hit ‘Fukrey’. Varun was also part of Dogra’s last project ‘Dolly Ki Doli’. The duo started their first schedule of the film last week in Delhi.
Talking about the film, the director says, “Varun plays a failed salesman while Govindaji is a theatre actor. The film follows the duo in the course of a day. Both the actors are Punjabis and get along like a house on fire. One is a legend and the biggest entertainer ever while the other epitomizes youth and their camaraderie is fresh,” adds Dogra.
Dogra further added saying Govinda is following a healthy diet for the film, “But Varun and I plan what to order and from where every day, well in advance, and occasionally treat ourselves to a dinner or party,” admits the filmmaker.
When asked about how he came up with the idea, Dogra added “The idea was to put together two writers, who are great at comedy but with completely different sensibilities. The final script is fantastic and it was great to see Rajeevji and Manu come together without any ego”. “We’ll also be filming in Hyderabad and Mumbai and will zero in on a leading lady this week.” The director further reveals.
