'Zanjeer' failed to lock up 'Shuddh Desi Romance'

The Friday of September 6 saw the "clash of titans" with two biggies coming face to face at the box office. The contenders were huge and rather unique in their own category. The first corner had ' Zanjeer ', a renewal of the 1973 cult classic of the same title, whereas the second corner had yet another experimental project ' Shuddh Desi Romance '.

The audience waited eagerly for both the servings and as the day raised, the viewers mobbed their nearest screens. Both the flicks were assumed to do well but as destiny had, one climbed on top of another to prove superior. Merely, this time around the classic faced down and the experiment stood on the forefront.

As anticipated, ' Shuddh Desi Romance ' being a youth centric treat from the director Maneesh Sharma , grabbed the larger portion of the crowd as compared to its competitor. The opening day figures too reportedly stated the same with ' Shuddh Desi Romance ' opening its counter with 6.45 crores approximately, on the other hand Apoorva Lakhia 's ' Zanjeer ' managed to get on a minimum share of around 3.58 crores approximately on the first day.

However, as the weekend slide down and the weekday rose up, it was crystal clear that Monday too remained biased to the rusted venture ' Zanjeer '. Reportedly, the remake grabbed the minimum of 2.01 crores , ' Shuddh Desi Romance ' took a clear lead with assembling 4.79 crores on Monday as well.

Thereby looking at the box office figure for the overall weekend as well as the beginning of the second week, it's broadly noticed that the "live-in funda" has gulped down the "rusty remake" single handedly by beating it up with a whopping overall collection of 28.06 crores reportedly.
