Karthi’s blockbuster film Viruman ready for its digital release on Amazon Prime Video

On August 12, Viruman, starring Karthi, had a strong box office debut and went on to become a commercial success. The action-thriller features Prakash Raj, Karthi, and Aditi Shankar in pivotal roles. Now, the film is set to make its OTT debut. On September 11, almost a month after it premiered in theatres, it will be now made available on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by M Muthaiya, the film is produced by Suriya and Jyothika under the banner of 2D Entertainment.

The digital platform Amazon Prime Video took to its social media handle to announce the film’s debut on its platform by writing, “blazing through your feed with all the right emotions #VirumanOnPrime, Sept 11.” Viruman released on August 12, was a huge success for Karthi. Even though the film received mixed reviews from both the critics and the audiences.

Karthi shared his thoughts about the digital release of Viruman

He said, “It was such a contrasting experience since Prakash sir and I have a very jovial and happy rapport but the one we play on-screen is totally different as father and son at loggerheads. We are rivals! This movie will give the audiences a glimpse into a never seen chemistry between the both of us. Watch out for us as we take you on a roller coaster ride of entertainment with the worldwide digital premiere of Viruman.”

Meanwhile, Karthi is gearing up for the release of his upcoming historical drama Ponniyin Selvan 1 which is slated to hit the theatres on September 30. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film also stars Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Sobhita Dhulipala.
