Surge in COVID-19 cases delays Ajith Kumar’s Valimai

The much-anticipated Tamil film Valimai, starring Ajith Kumar, was set to release on the 13th of January around the Pongal period. Ajith Kumar was gearing up to grace the silver screen three years after Nerkonda Paarvai (2019). But now, the return of Tollywood’s biggest star has been delayed due to the pandemic, as per reports.

A source in the know said, "The Tamil Nadu government has taken the harsh call of closing cinema halls due to the rising COVID-19 cases. This leaves the producers of Valimai with no option but to delay the release. Ajith Kumar fans will have to wait a little longer for their Thala to be back on the screen again.”

Adding further, the source said, "It is sad, but extreme situations need extreme decisions. Be assured, fans will get to witness Valimai only on the big screen once the scenario is back to normal. It's a promise from the makers to fans of Ajith Kumar as the power of the Thala of Tamil Industry can be experienced only on the big screen.”

With the Tamil cinemas closing, it leaves producers of big films like Valimai with no choice but to delay their films for an indefinite period. From 2020, all the film producing industries have suffered the great loss of revenue.

Ajith’s Valimai will now release around the summer period, that too if the situation gets better and the government decides to open the cinemas again.
