While Shetty has a long list of successful films to his credit, including Golmaal (2006), Singham (2011), Chennai Express (2013), and Sooryavanshi (2021), Akhtar has proved his mettle not only on the directorial but also the acting front.
His directorial ventures Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Don (2006), and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) are loved as much as his acting credits such as Rock On (2008), Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), and Dil Dhadakne Do (2015).
Now Rohit Shetty and Farhan Akhtar will be seen together in one frame as they have collaborated on the upcoming Discovery Plus streaming show Mission Frontline, which will see the two spend a day with the Rashtriya Rifle soldiers and J&K Police’s Special Operations Group in Srinagar respectively.
While speaking about the series, Shetty said, “An experience that I cannot explain even through the best of phrases. People often associate me with action, but ‘true action’ is what these police officers personify. Given the high-tension area, leaving for duty each morning, and hoping for the family to be safe by the time you get back requires a lot of courage. I’m moved by their undying spirit.”
Sharing his experience, Akhtar said, “If I could express the feeling in one word, it would be humbling for me. Back when we were filming Lakshya (2004), we went up close and personal with the lives of our jawans, but stepping into their shoes and experiencing the hardships they go through on-ground is a life-changing experience.”
“It was extremely difficult for me to get trained in such tough terrains and weather conditions, but their support and encouragement made it possible,” he added.
Mission Frontline is scheduled to premiere on January 20, 2022.
