The Stacy Rukeyser-produced programme centres on suburban mother Billie Connelly (Sarah Shahi), who at first finds herself in a love triangle with her dependable husband Cooper (Mike Vogel) and her ex-boyfriend Brad Simon (Adam Demos). She begins to write in her journal about the passionate times she shared with Brad during her wild and carefree days in New York City. But as she continues her walk down memory lane, she starts to wonder how she ended herself in Connecticut as a stay-at-home wife and mother.
Billie's opening line in the second season's trailer, which was released on Monday, is “One of the most important decisions you’ll ever make is who to spend your life with.”And it is obvious that she is still considering that choice.
Another man becomes involved in Billie's life in the seductive video. “The time right after you blow up your life … is usually the most exciting,” The voice of the man says. As Shahi's character begins to doubt everything, the stakes are enormous, so Cooper and Brad aren't hanging around and might possibly be starting their own love triangles.
“You are the one who gave up your power, sacrificed a huge part of yourself for a man, with disastrous results,” Sasha Snow, Billie's best friend, says to her (Margaret Odette). Sasha tries to assist, but she also develops feelings for someone.
Another man's voice can be heard towards the end of the trailer saying, “You have a choice you need to make.”
Rukeyser stated that the show was renewed for a second season after Netflix reported excellent viewing figures in September 2021. “Sex/Life is a dream come true. To create a show about empowered female sexuality that has entranced so many millions of viewers is not only immensely fun but also incredibly gratifying.”
She continued, “When I think about all the women who have reached out from all over the world to say that the show speaks to them in a deeply personal way, I am so inspired. I’m thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to continue telling this story for Billie, and for all of us.”
Sex/Life second season, which was adapted from BB Easton's novel 44 Chapters About 4 Men, debuts on Netflix on March 2. View the most recent trailer below.
