Blackmail witnesses a slow start on its first Friday!

Irrfan Khan is a gem of an actor and he has been proving it since his debut. While he is ruling the Chinese box office with his last year’s film, Hindi Medium, his recent film, Blackmail, faces a dull start in India. A few weeks ago, the actor got diagnosed with a rare disease due to which the team of the film couldn’t promote it to the expected extent. And we guess, that's where the team of Blackmail failed to pull the audiences to the theatres. Made on an overall budget of 14 crores, the Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari’s dark comedy managed to earn Rs. 2.81 crores on its day 1.

The film has received positive reviews and if it managed to spread the strong word of mouth, it can possibly see a growth on Saturday and Sunday.

Blackmail is being touted as the best dark comedies in the recent time with appreciation and rave reviews pouring in from all quarters. The Irrfan starrer is being hailed by not just the critics but also industry veterans like Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor amongst others.

Directed by Abhinay Deo and produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, the film also stars Divya Dutta, Arunoday Singh, Omi Vaidya, and Gajraj Rao in pivotal roles.
