The Big B of the television industry , handsome hunk Ronit Roy has made a debut in Hindi film industry through the film 'Jaan Tere Naam' in 1992. The film was successful at the box office. The talented actor was born on 11th October 1965 in Nagpur. His father Brothindranath Roy was a businessman and his mother Dolly Bose Roy was a housewife. He has a younger brother named Rohit Roy who is also a successful actor in the Television Industry. Ronit has spent most of his childhood days in Ahmedabad. Ronit has done engineering and then opted for Hotel Management. After finishing studies, he shifted to Mumbai and then he lived at the legendary Subhash Ghai's house. While in Mumbai, Ronit worked at the Sea Rock Hotel. Ronit is married to Neelam Roy and the couple has two children. He is the owner of one security company which has provided security to the film stars like Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.
After 'Jaan Tere Naam' Ronit did many films like 'Sainik','Tahqiqat','15th August','Army','Bomb Blast' and 'Hulchul' which proved unsuccessful at the box office. He also acted in a Bengali movie too. Ronit came into limelight by doing the role of Mr. Bajaj in Ekta Kapoor's TV serial 'Kasauti Zindagi Kay' in 2002. After that he went on doing strong roles in the TV serials like 'Kyonki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', 'Kammal', 'Sarkarr', 'Suraag', 'Kasamh Se' , 'Kavyanjali' and many more. He took a part in many reality shows like 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa', 'Yeh Hai Jalwa' etc. For his performance in the television industry, he has received many awards and nominations.
He has again made a comeback in Bollywood through the film 'Udaan' by Anurag Kashyap. His character of an oppressive father got lots of critical accolades. And he got the Filmfare award for the best supporting actor too. Next, he appeared in the films like 'The Girl in Yellow Boots' , 'Midnight's Children' and 'Student of the year' . All the films got a positive response from the audiences.
Ronit is currently looking forward for his upcoming release 'Shootout at Wadala' by Sanjay Gupta which has a huge star cast. His next will be 'Ugly' and 'Naam Hai Boss'.
