Multi-talented Vishal Bhardwaj is a renowned Filmmaker of the industry known for delivering his all-round performances in Indian cinema and Television. Born on 4th august 1965, the maestro is a Music director, Movie Director, Singer, Writer and Producer all at the same time. Singer Rekha Bhardwaj is the better half of Vishal. They also have a son named, Aasmaan.
Born in Bijnor to a Hindu Brahmin Family, Vishal was raised in Meerut by mom Satya and dad Ram Bhardwaj, a sugarcane inspector and a poet at heart. Bhardwaj went to Delhi and completed his graduation at the 'Hindu College'. This was the place where he discovered himself and also met wife Rekha. He worked in theatres for a few times. He started playing harmonium for local Ghazal singers at various occasions. Watching the young talent R. V. Pandit offered him some works for CBS music company in Delhi.
Vishal was introduced to Veteran Director and lyricist Gulzar by a friend with whom Vishal composed his first song for a T.V series 'The jungle book-Mogli' in the year 1992. Then they went on working alongside for numerous projects. In the year 1996 Vishal started his filmy career by composing songs for Gulzar's movie 'Maachis' which was well received by one and all. He also grabbed a 'Filmfare R. D. Burman award' for the same. He also received a Rajat Kamal Award at the national film awards for best music director for 'Godmother'. He got the same award for movie 'Ishqiya' in 2011. He has given music for various Hindi movies from then 'Chachi 420','Satya','Hu tu tu' etc. In the year 2000 he directed 2 short movies in a T.V series 'Gubbare' on Zee T.V. One of the 2 short movies named 'Dhan te nan' contained a song by same name composed by him and recreated it in 2010 movie 'Kaminey'. The first movie directed by Bhardwaj was 'Makdee' after which, with his every movie, he gained more and more respect and accolades. He is also known to strike a correct balance between Commercial and art cinema. Gulzar is his all-time favorite when it comes to lyric writing. He has a lot of successful movies in his kitty like 'Maqbool','Blue Umbrella','Omkara','Kaminey','Ishqiya' and '7 Khoon Maaf'. His current release was 'Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola'. His forthcoming release is 'Ek Thi Daayan'.
