Shakira and longtime boyfriend Gerard Pique part ways; issue joined statement announcing split

Just when the netizens were celebrating Johnny Depp’s win in the Virginia trial, they got a shock to hear about speculations about Shakira and her longtime boyfriend Gerard Piqué's breakup. And the couple confirmed the news by issuing a joined statement where they announced their separation.

“We regret to confirm that we are separating. “For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding.” the two said in a statement released by Shakira’s PR firm.

Though they haven’t shared the reason for their split, rumours are that the Hips Don’t Lie singer caught him cheating with another woman. However there’s no official confirmation of this statement but sources suggest that Piqué had moved out of their family home and was found partying in his bachelor pad at Calle Muntaner, Barcelona, where he is currently staying alone.

For the unversed, they met on the set of her music video for Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), which was the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7, are the couple’s two kids out of wedlock.
