EKK DEEWANA THA is a Hindi feature film which released on 17th February, 2012. It is the Hindi remake of Tamil movie VINNAITHAANDI VARUVAAYAA, and Telugu Movie - YE MAAYA CHESAVE by the same director- Gautham Menon.Story : Sachin (Prateik Babbar) is a young guy who is very fond of films and wants to become a film maker, film director etc. He falls in love with a girl Jessie (Amy Jackson), whose parents or religion doesn't allow her to watch movies because her parents are from orthodox Malayali Christian background. Though Sachin is BE graduate from Mumbai, he wants to become a film director whereas the nature of Jessie is totally opposite. However they fall in love with each other.Will they get married to each other? Will their love story become successful?? These are the questions which are answered in this romantic thriller.Acting : Though Prateik Babbar has potential and can do well, he fails to justify his character here. His performance is weak and not as powerful as he did in DHOBI GHAT. Amy is okay. Others are average.Script : Its screenplay was fast and good in Tamil and Telgu but here it is very slow and boring. People get disappointed to watch what's going on the screen. It's not gripping despite being thriller, though romantic thriller.Music : Though music has been given by A.R.Rehman, it is not up to the mark. You can't listen to the songs repeatedly.Cinematography is good.Direction : This is the 2nd Hindi film of the director Gautham Menon; the previous one being REHNA HA TERE DL MEIN. But the director, who gave such a big hit of the same film in Tamil & Telgu fails to impress you here. There are many loopholes in the script in the script and direction. Casting and characterization are also not perfect.Conclusion : This film proves that all films of South or of Tamil & Telgu are not going to work in Hindi film industry. It may not earn good revenue. It may not even reach break even point in terms of revenue.Plus Points : GenreMinus Points : Script; Music; PerformanceVerdict : You may watch it to boost Prateik Babbar's moral otherwise it is not worth watching in theatres until and unless you have extra time and money to spend.
