One Line Review: The film doesn't offer anything new and most of the film is cliched. Positive Points: Good music, strong performances, unexpected twist in the plot. Negative Points: Unrealistic action sequences; a typically Bollywood base plot; trite and imbecile love dialogues. Plot: Bikram (Ranveer Singh) and Bala (Arjun Kapoor) are childhood buddies, whose lives are severely affected in the Bangladesh war and are forced into the world of crime from an early age. To avoid arrest, they flee to India and start their lives afresh as refugees, however their life doesn't give another chance and they are again drawn to the world of crime. Soon they start illegally trading in coal and become a dreaded name in the whole of Bengal. They expand their criminal business and make well wishers and enemies alike. However, it isn't until Nandita (Priyanka Chopra) a cabaret dancer in then Calcutta enters their life and their brotherhood is set on a downward spiral. Though in a friendly spirit, they try to out compete each other to get Nandita, but they are unaware of a fact. On the other hand, the police officer Satya (Irrfan Khan) is in their pursuit and wants to nail both of them at any cost. If both the friends, who have a rock solid brotherly friendship, are wild and ready to fight their way to dominate the crime world, the inspector Satya is an equal match for them both, who is calm, calculated but also very brutal. Both the childhood buddies are now trapped in the love trap of a beautiful lady, which is going to throw them in a situation, they never could have imagined. Direction And Other Technical Aspects: There isn't much that can be said about the film's direction, as it is the very same as you can expect from that of a typical Bollywood commercial entertainer. Cinematography too isn't much impressive. Performance: While Ranveer Singh succeeds to portray the character of a smart and energetically fearless young man, Arjun Kapoor too embodies the personality of an aggressive, angry and 'ready to hit' young criminal. While Priyanka Chopra's acting can be described just as generic, Irrfan Khan with his usual nonchalance and sophistication shows up as an equal foe to these criminals. Music: A get going music is an add on to the whole film. 'Tune Maari Entry' is the biggest and enjoyable dance number in this film. On the other hand, 'Asalaam -e- Ishqum' and 'Jashn-e- Ishqan' are the two others that are enjoyable. However, the song that describes the strong friendship between the protagonists is 'Mann Kunto Maula' in the beginning of the film. Final Verdict: Though this film is certainly in the spotlight for its cast, there is nothing much to expect. The film is a kind of 2014 'Jay-Veeru' film with coal and crime in its background and a tempting lady to stir trouble in calm waters. Even though the film's title and its basic plot is very generic with unimpressive action sequences, an unexpected twist is a little bit of feel good thing in the film.
