One line Review: Excellent performances by the star cast, sluggish and weak plot along with a soul less storyline. Positive Points: Realistic and remarkable performances by all the actors, the background score and music. The concept is unique and very different from the mainstream Bollywood cinema. Negative Points: The film constantly goes into flashbacks which takes you away from the plot. The slow and dull second half, disappointing loose ends of the film, some illogical sequences. Plot: The story revolves around the film's central character Mandar Ponkshe (Gulshan Devaiah). It is a journey of a guy who is a sex addict and hits on every other girl he meets or sees. As a teenager Mandar is influenced by his elder cousin and starts the so-called 'vasugiri' since his adolescence years. Watching the first adult film, seeking pleasure by watching girls, physical relationships, Mandar's lust just keeps on growing with years. Veera Saxena's character is seems quite unreal as his luring girlfriend due to some illogical sequences like their ridiculous unplanned first encounter. As in which girl smiles shyly when an unknown guy suddenly some what forcibly jumps into her auto? Also the silly scene when he tries to touch her lustfully; though these things suit aptly on Ponkshe's creepy personality. The story of Mandar's life continues to be 'eventful' in the course of which he meets Jyotsna (Sai Tamhankar), a married woman with who he has a torrid affair. Jyotsna is unhappy with her husband and lives in the same society as Mandar during his college days. Later when the middle class Maharashtrian hero plans to settle down he meets several girls like in a typical arrange marriage scenario but gets rejected after revealing about his past affairs. There is a positive twist in the plot when Mandar meets Trupti (Radhika Apte). Will Mandar genuinely fall for Trupti and marry her? Or will he continue his Vasugiri is a further watch in the film. Direction and other Technical Aspects: Taking up this controversial concept, director Harshavardhan Kulkarni has done a brave job. The story telling is slow and laidback. The setting, back ground score and music is appreciable. There are a few loose ends and loop holes in the script. Though the presentation is quite acceptable and intelligent at certain slots but a strong plot could have been developed with crisp writing. Performances: Almost all the actors gave a realistic performance in the movie. Starting with Gulshan Devaiah, he is exceptional as Mandar and does not even act out of character for a brief moment. Radhika Apte is perfect as Trupti who is confident, simple yet a modern-day woman. The renowned Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar who plays the role of a Hot Bhabhi is brilliant in every frame. She essays her role as Jyotsna, a married woman convincingly and believably. Music: The songs in the film come at the correct timing and are precisely composed. The title track is an apt one which ideally suits the plot. 'Chori Chori' is a cute romantic song by Arijit Singh and Sona Mohapatra. 'Naa Heer and Hur' and 'Bachpan' are another decent melodies from the film. Final Verdict: The film 'Hunterrr' as the name suggests is the story of lustful desires of a man. There is nothing much to experience in the film and it is definitely not for the family audience. The film portrays some realistic performances and is worth watch only for the star cast. The movie gives a strong message for woman to beware from such typical 'Vasu' types guys! For the brave attempt of the director, I would go with 2 out of 5 stars.
