One-line Review: 'Kill Dil' is not a bad film, but a badly written film! Positive Points: Cutesy romance of Ranveer and Parineeti, Villainy shade of Govinda, Catchy one-liners Negative Points: Ages-old concept, Messy climax, Abrupt Ending Plot: Bhaiyaji (Govinda) picks up two orphans- Dev (Ranveer Singh) and Tutu (Ali Zafar) from the garbage bin, only to grow them as his faithful henchmen. Be it shooting a local politician or Bhaiyaji's rival, they blindly follow whatever their godfather says. Until a free spirited Disha (Parineeti Chopra) comes in Dev's life. She is a rehabilitator by profession who work with prisoners to take them away from the crime world. Poles apart Dev and Disha instantly fall for each other in their messaging conversation of "LOL and ROFL". When Bhaiyaji hears their love-bell, he opposes their relationship as he wants Dev to concentrate on his work. Struck between Bhaiyaji's sinister world and Disha's wave of crime-free life, Dev ends up lying both of them and lives a dual life. What will happen when both of them will come across Dev's reality and what will he choose then- Loyalty towards Bhaiyaji or Love life with Disha, is further answerable in the film. Direction and other technical aspects: Director Shaad Ali's seven years long break after the disastrous 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom' did help him to bounce back with 'Kill Dil'. But still it wasn't as perfect as his earlier films 'Saathiya' and 'Bunty Aur Babli'. The loose script is the show spoiler. Still, we won't have mind much getting served with this ages-old predictable concept, but makers made the film worse with its hurried climax and abrupt ending. Performances: 'Kill Dil' has made each actor do something different then what they have done in other movies till date. Otherwise seen as street smart Ranveer Singh is playing innocent "Dev". He has added his own spark to this ordinarily written character. Grounded in girl-next-door's image, Parineeti Chopra is playing a glamorous role of a social worker "Disha". Her cutesy chemistry with Ranveer is a delight to watch. Mostly seen in comedy films, Ali Zafar is trying his hand out in serious role. He plays "Tutu" in full attitude and complements Ranveer with his "bromance". Moving away from light-hearted roles, Govinda gets into the villainy skin of "Bhaiyaji". He has played his part amazingly well and has also flaunted his dance steps. Music: Be it a birthday or diwali or celebrating love, 'Kill Dil' has a song at the every turn of its story, composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. To start with the title track "Kill Dil" is an introductory song, standing out for its background score which is constantly played throughout the film. "Happy Budday" is peppy number sung by Sukhwinder Singh which also witnesses his cameo. "Sweeta" is a melodious track of Adnan Sami. "Bol Beliya", "Daiyaa Maiyaa", "Baawra" and "Nakhriley" are average numbers. While, "Sajde" voiced by Arijit Singh and Nihira Joshi is the winning track of the entire album. Final Verdict: If the ages-old concept would have been scripted in an interesting plot. If the film specified its genre. If the filmmakers won't have included too many song. If the climax would have lived a bit longer. If the story would have had a proper ending. If there were not these many "ifs", 'Kill Dil' had an intensity of becoming a blockbuster film.

Shaad Ali's Kill Dil is a mismatched story of love, revenge, betrayal all mixed up in a heady cocktail that looks pretty but doesn't give you the promised high. Dev (Ranveer) and Tuttu (Ali Zafar) are Bhaiyyaji's (Govinda) protgs. Picked up from a roadside dustbin, they grow up to be hit men who live by Bhaiyyaji's rules and worship the ground he walks, until Dev meets Disha (Parineeti) who changes the direction of his life.

Shaad Ali's 'Kill Dil' is a fine example of a film marred by lousy storytelling. It's an even bigger shame since the director did manage to get a decent cast in place, who seem completely convinced about this ridiculous plot. Even if you were to make discounts for a disjointed plot trajectory and absence of credible plot points, I somehow couldn't make peace with a complete disregard for rationale.

One of the much hyped movies of this year, `Kill Dil` has released. It managed to create a buzz in the virtual world right from the start because of the ensemble cast that it boasts of. Also, as `Kill Dil` marks the comeback of Govinda after a long hiatus, I had high hopes when I went for the movie. Directed by Shaad Ali and produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films `Kill Dil` stars Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra, Ali Zafar and Govinda as the leads.

Here's another colorful entertainer from YRF banner directed by Shaadi Ali. In this two hour action drama you get to watch romance, guns, goons, jackets, parties, bikes, booze and blood. The story is set in Delhi, professional shooters Dev (Ranveer Singh) and Tutu (Ali Zafar) work for a local goon Bhaiyaji (Govinda). Killing is no big deal for these two until Dev meets Disha (Parineeti Chopra) during a pub brawl. Soon Dev is in love with her and now he won't kill anymore. The choice is between Kill and Dil, this doesn't go down well with Bhaiyaji.

Govinda was not too far from truth when he recently said that he signed Kill Dil because Yash Raj Films package their films wonderfully. The movie is exactly that -- perfect packaging, with a very 80s potboiler feel.

I've just got done with 'Kill Dil', and my heart is still in a state of arrest: how can you make a film with a bunch of actors who have proved they are capable of carrying a scene, and above all Govinda, which is such a dud?

A stylishly shot and neatly packaged action caper, Kill Dil could have been a killer film. It isn't. It simply doesn't have enough soul and substance to be able to go all the way to the finish line with its grand design in one piece. Director Shaad Ali, back in action seven years after the Jhoom Barabar Jhoom debacle, shows clear signs of rustiness.
