What he could not do due to the due process of law and its defined limits, Justice Tyagi (Anupam Kher) decides to do after his retirement. Taking the law into his hands, he sets up a justice system of his own, one where there are no limits to the nature of punishment.

Anupam Kher plays a judge-turned-executioner in the awkwardly titled One Day: Justice Delivered. Ashok Nanda's Ranchi-set movie features Kher as Tyagi, a judge who has been compelled by poor evidence and hostile witness to exonerate people he knows are guilty. After he retires, Tyagi swaps his robes for an invisible superhero cape. Reasoning that delayed justice is better than denied justice, Tyagi goes on a kidnapping spree in the hope of forcing confessions out of the criminals.

We have a retired judge in Tyagi (Anupam Kher), who gets slapped by a woman because of some injustice he indirectly did to her. Tyagi realises how he has exonerated many people who were clearly guilty in the crimes. He turns vigilante and goes on a kidnapping spree, in order to 'deliver the justice'. He manages to forcefully pull in people he knows are guilty, and punishes them with some silly styles of torture.

A retired judge, whose hands are tied in the court-room, puts the bead on a bunch of criminals who have gone scot-free. This is not a bad premise for a spot-the-vigilante thriller, led by the trusty Anupam Kher. But the execution is so ham-fisted from opening to closing frame that you are left reeling.

It's a race-against-time kind of thriller, in which a retired Judge (Anupam Kher) is forced to take law into his own hands in order to ensure that justice is served. Meanwhile, ACP Laxmi Rathi (Esha Gupta) tries to resolve the mystery of some missing persons on her own. Now, will they be able to accomplish their respective missions or face disappointment?

There are some hoary lines that you thought Bollywood had stopped using altogether. Like "kanoon ke shikanje mein jakadna", "kanoon ki giraft mein aana" (both roughly translating as getting caught by the law) or "kanoon ka daayra todna" (breaking the law). One Day Justice Delivered offers such kind of uninspired, mediocre writing. But there is more that is laughable.
