Plot

Raavana is movie; a story very much inspired by the epic Ramayan.

Beera Munda is an undisputed, unlawful, untamed tribal. Dev Pratap Sharma is the protector of the law. He is the punisher. Ragini is a beautiful and gorgeous lady fond of music.

Dev and Ragini fall in love and they are married to each other.  Thereafter Dev is posted Lal Maati. This place is a small town in northern India. Dev takes up his new responsibility to be placed in Laal Maati but he doesn't know what he is going to face there.

In Laal Maati, Beera rules the town. Everyone is scared of him. In this town, not the police, but Beera is the law. Beera is a tribal and rules the town in different way.

Newly posted Dev understand that the solution to bringing order to any place is not to conquer the big fish; in this case, it was Beera.

In one hit Dev manages to tear open Beera's tribal world, and put in action a change of incident which would claim lives, changes destiny.

Due to Dev's action, Beera gets injured and is furious. He attacks them in different manner due to which Dev, Beera and Ragini meet together into the forest.

The forest is opaque, dark, perplexing and frightening. And in this trip they must tackle their own fact; a trip which would check their viewpoint, belief and sentiment; sentiments which are as terrifying and confusing as the jungle.

The jungle becomes the battlefield; the fight takes place between good (Dev as Ram) and evil (Beera as Raavana).

But when the lines separating good and evil are not clear, then what would you want? Whom would you wish to win the battle?

Love is the battle that no one wins but each person must battle so why not this Raavana!

RAAVANA is a mega film directed by one of the great directors Mani Ratnam. Its Casts are Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Govinda and others. RAAVANA is a good film. Its story is predictable, that's what makes it a better film. Beera The story of the film goes like this: Beera (Abhishek Bachchan) is a tribal who loves his one and only sister more than his life. They are tribal and they live in village (jungle) in different way. Beera's sister loves someone and in return Beera happily gets ready to get the married. Once Beera fixes his sister's marriage and the wedding ceremony is arranged. In the meanwhile, an A.C.P Dev Sharma (Vikram) is posted in Beera's area. Dev shifts there with his wife Ragini (Aishwarya Rai). Dev attacks with full force while the wedding ceremony was about to start in the wedding pavilion. They attack Beera, capture his sister and bring to the police station. They gang rape her. This makes Beera furious and in return kidnaps Dev's wife Ragini. Other tribals tel him to kill her but Beera sets 14 days time to keep her alive than kill her. Firstly, Ragini hates him but when she comes to know his tragedy, she sympthises with him and starts loving him. Finally Beera is killed by Dev but Ragini's hidden love for him could be seen. Story of the film is good. It could have been excellent had Beera killed Dev. The character of Beera is very powerful and is played by Abhishek Bachchan brilliantly. He is too good in his expression. Some people may find his act as overacting but he is perfect throughout and is excellent in the last scenes. Aishwarya looks beautiful, glamorous as well as has acted well. The cinematographer too has done his job brilliantly. However the music is not up to the mark and will fade away soon. A.R Rehmaan is a good music director and could have done better. The direction is good because the director has chosen a nice subject. I remember a man, who was very brilliantly in his studies, and could have become an engineer, but when his sister was mistreated but some powerful man, and when nobody listened to his complaint, he took the laws in his hand and killed the culprits. This made him India's one of the biggest criminal. In one more incident, few policemen in north India, had gang raped a women. Similar thing has been shown in this film. When the protector of the law turns to be the devourer, what could be done!?? This film may remind you some of Amitabh Bachchan's great films like ADALAT. The worst part of the film RAAVANA is the comparison of its characters with the characters of the epic Ramayan. It is a blunder mistake! Great filmmaker like Mani Ratnam should not have done that. It will surely put very negative effect on the film. It is surely going to cause a great loss to the film: business wise as well appreciation wise. This film may not be praised and liked by most of the Indian audience just due to one point. The director has tried to portray Beera as RAAVANA but in fact he is not RAAVANA. He is RAM. He is the hero; not Dev. The film's business will be very much affected due to it. However, the film is good and even though many films on such stories have been made in the past, it should be watched. It keeps you thinking in what kind of country you are living where women are still gang raped in police-station. What people are doing? A must watch film! But not for them who just want to watch films containing sex masala and too much exposure.
