It is a moment of utmost proud for the filmmakers of the latest Bollywood release Newton as it has been selected as India’s official entry in the Foreign Language Film category at the 2018 Oscars. Yes, this Rajkummar Rao starrer film is going to the Oscars! The lead star Rajkummar who is delighted with the news took to Twitter and wrote: “Very happy to share this news that #NEWTON is India’s official entry to the #OSCARS this year. Congratulations team.”
Hansal Mehta also tweeted the good news saying, “#Newton is India's entry to the Oscars. The best choice in years by the federation.”
The movie narrates the tale of a newly recruited government employee named Nutan Kumar a.k.a. Newton, played by Rajkummar Rao , who is entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out a fair election in a Naxal hit area. Being a sincere person that he is, Newton gives his all to conduct the elections in those risky areas. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi , Raghubir Yadav, Anjali Patil, Danish Hussain, Sanjay Mishra .
