Newton is modern day black comedy-drama which beautifully highlights the election process in a remote Naxal hit area. Newton Kumar (Rajkummar Rao) is appointed as a government clerk to conduct the fair election in a Naxal controlled village. Being the honest man and government employee that he is, he wants the voting process to be done with complete honesty and impartiality but later realizes that the villagers have no clue how the voting process takes place. Newton tries to educate them so that he can get the genuine vote, but despite his honest attempts, he faces hardships from policemen, especially Atma Singh (Pankaj Tripathi), who try to stop him from conducting the fair elections.
