Here’s why director Shoojit Sircar requests a ban on children's reality shows!

Eminent filmmaker Shoojit Sircar is known for his films like Piku , Madras Cafe, and Vicky Donor among others. His amazing sense of visualization and direction is what makes his scenes carve out so beautifully. Recently, the filmmaker tweeted about an important issue about a ban on children’s reality shows. For which he received a lot of support as well as some backlash for his statement. However, it is a very significant point that he has made through his tweet. Check it out here:

Shoojit Sircar tweeted: “Humble request to authorities to urgently ban all reality shows involving children. it's actually destroying them emotionally & their purity.”

The filmmaker certainly is concerned about the children who participate in such reality shows on television as the tiny souls have to go through a lot of stress and emotional turmoil. Also, a lot of children aged 3 to 6 years are unable to handle the format and the rejection procedure leaving a bruise on their personality that might stay for long. Parents also get into the competitive streak and to fulfill their parents' dreams and desire, children push themselves hard. It is not always the case that a child is badly affected but some of them do, leaving their emotions turmoiled. So, Sircar requested for an urgent ban on such shows but as the state of bans is evident to all, it is far from being implemented yet.

Another important aspect is that which several tweeteratis pointed out was that of flirting with the judges wearing skimpy clothes and perform item numbers which kids should actually refrain from watching. Exposing to all this at a tender age of 5 and 6 is just and injustice to their childhood. Also, they are missing out on school which is another debate altogether.

Creative director of several children based TV Show Meghna Prem supported Shoojit saying: “Sadly, I have been a Creative Director on many such shows like Balika Vadhu, Udaan, Mata Ki Chowki & many more. Have always felt the same.”

If not banned, there should at least be an age limit which should be made so very small kids do not have to go through the emotional rollercoaster ride so early in life which is anyway a part of an everyday adult life!
