'Madras Cafe' not to release in Tamil Nadu

John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri starrer spy-thriller, \'Madras Cafe\' turns out to be controversial and therefore, banned from releasing in Tamil Nadu.

John Abraham 's spy-thriller ' Madras Cafe ' won't be projected in Tamil Nadu movie theatres, as the leaders of Tamil Nationalist Party termed it as 'Anti-Tamil'. The movie was undergoing resistance right from the initial making days over the issue of sensitive topic the film will be dealing with. LTTE activists thought it portrays them in bad light. Therefore, they demanded a special screening of the film, before the mass release.

After the special screening arranged on Sunday, 18th August, Tamil activist group, Naam Tamizhar, said it projects LTTE and its leader V. Prabhakaran in negative image and it would create distress in Tamilians.

Filmmaker and activist group leader, Seeman quoted, the film portrays LTTE chief late Prabhakaran as a terrorist, while he had spend his life in fighting for the rights of Tamil Sri Lankans. The film hurts Tamil sentiments, so distributors won't be allowed to showcase ' Madras Cafe ' in Tamil Nadu state. To which actor John Abraham defended by saying, the movie doesn't take any side and doesn't portrays anyone as terrorist.

' Madras Cafe ' also stars Nargis Fakhri and is directed by Shoojit Sircar . The movie will be releasing on 23rd August world-wide, expect in Tamil Nadu.
