Riteish Deshmukh chose to smoke herbal cigarettes for his role in Banjo!
Non-smoker Riteish Deshmukh decided to opt for herbal cigarettes over the harmful tobacco ones for Banjo.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh who will be next seen in the upcoming musical drama Banjo , plays the role of a roadside music player. Riteish is a non-smoker and never ever has supported smoking in anyway. He has even refused to smoke in his other films when he was asked to. But, for this film, to make the character believable Riteish had to smoke on screen. The actor then decided to opt for herbal cigarettes over the harmful tobacco ones.
In a recent interaction, Riteish stated that, “To make my character look more believable, I was supposed to smoke in a few scenes, as that was integral to the script. Thankfully, I had to smoke herbal cigarettes and not the actual ones that are harmful.”
Banjo also stars Nargis Fakhri as the female lead. Directed by Ravi Jadhav, this musical drama by Eros has been scheduled to hit the silver screens on 23 September, 2016.
