Will Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ be a bigger hit than ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’?

In July 2015, Salman Khan gave ‘ Bajrangi Bhaijaan ’, which became the biggest blockbuster of his career. And now, he is coming up with his latest film, ‘ Tiger Zinda Hai ’, an Ali Abbas Zafar directorial set to arrive in cinemas on 22nd December. Bankrolled by Yash Raj Films, the movie is a sequel to Kabir Khan and Salman Khan ’s 2012 blockbuster film ‘ Ek Tha Tiger ’ and looks as grand as it can get. Salman and Kabir share a great working relationship and have given highest grossing films such as ‘ Ek Tha Tiger ’ and ‘ Bajrangi Bhaijaan ’. On the other hand, Ali Abbas Zafar ’s association with ‘Dabangg’ Khan started with ‘ Sultan ’, which was also a blockbuster film. In the recent past, other than Kabir, we have not seen Salman working with the same director often, but he is coming back with Ali Abbas for the second consecutive year. Buzz around their film ‘ Tiger Zinda Hai ’ is humongous. But one question that every Salman Khan fan wants to know the answer of is will ‘ Tiger Zinda Hai ’ go on to become a bigger hit than Salman Khan ’s highest grossing film ‘ Bajrangi Bhaijaan ’!

Though Salman’s ‘ Sultan ’ released a year later than ‘ Bajrangi Bhaijaan ’, it couldn’t manage to break the record of BB. So now, all the eyes are set on TZH. BB collected around Rs. 320 crores in the domestic market and overall, the film pocketed Rs. 690 crores. Made on a budget of 90 crores, after its lifetime run, Bajrangi Bhaijaan made a profit of 767%. On the other hand, the production and marketing cost of TZH alone is Rs. 140 crores. So, if ‘ Tiger Zinda Hai ’ wants to emerge as the biggest blockbuster of Salman Khan and surpass the collection of BB, it will technically have to collect over Rs. 320 crores domestically, while a collection of Rs. 1000 crores will be needed for the film to become a worldwide success.

Rs. 1000 crores is a humongous amount, but films like ‘ Dangal ’ and ‘ Baahubali: The Conclusion ’ have achieved this feat. We know the stardom and fan base of megastar Salman Khan . With his Midas touch, he can turn dirt to gold. With no big releases around, TZH surely has a chance to become Salman’s biggest hit. It will be interesting to watch what destructions TZH wreaks from 22nd December 2017 onwards.
