Young talent in the Indian film industry Shamita Shetty was born on 2nd February 1979. Her family is Mangalorean and from Bunt community. Shamita is Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty's younger sister. Shamita Shetty is the daughter of Sunanda Shetty and Surendra Shetty. The charming lady did her schooling from St. Anthony Girls' High School in Mumbai. The actress was the student of Podar College in Matunga. Tulu is the mother-tongue of Shamita. Shamita appeared on silver screen for the very first time with Yash Raj Production's super hit movie 'Mohabbatein'. The movie was directorial venture by Aditya Chopra. The character 'Ishika' played by Shamita in the film earned her and her co-stars Preeti Jhangiani and Kim Sharma, the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year - Female for the year 2001. The dazzling actress rocked in the item numbers like 'Chori Pe Chori' in hit film 'Saathiya' (2002) and 'Sharara Sharara' in the movie 'Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai'. One of the Telugu flick by Shamita Shetty titled 'Piliste Palakutha' was released in the year 2003. The year 2005 contains the film 'Zeher', which was Shamita's first solo hit as an actress. In 2005, Shamita starred in 'Fareb' with her sister Shilpa Shetty. In the same year, she acted in film 'Bewafaa' in a supporting role. In the year 2002, Shamita acted in one of the Tamil movie 'Raajjiyam'. 'Wajahh' and 'Agni Pankh' were the films in which Shamita starred in the year 2004. In 2007, Shamita Shetty starred in the film 'Cash'. In the same year, Shamita performed cameos in the film 'Heyy Babyy' and 'Hari Puttar'. The beautiful Shamita appeared on Indian television with television reality show 'Bigg Boss' (Season 3), on Colors channel. Eventually, Shamita opted out of 'Bigg Boss', due to her elder sister Shilpa Shetty's wedding. Shamita stayed in the house of 'Bigg Boss' for seven weeks. In the year 2011, Shamita declared that she would be moving to interior designing rather than continuing acting career.
