Zubeen Garg is a music composer turned actor born on November 27, 1972 in Jorhat, Assam. He hails from a magistrate family and had to constantly shift his base across Assam during his childhood. Though his schools were changing, but one thing that remained constant was the musical training which he got from his mother Mohini Mohan Borthakur who herself was a famous lyricist and poet. Further he got his specialized training from renowned personalities like Guru Robin Banerjee and Guru Romoni Roi.

During his college days, he received a gold medal for his western solo performance at Gauhati University Youth Festival. This gave zeal to his passion where quitted his studies and released his first album 'Anamika' in the year 1992. This album became an instant hit in the entire North-East provinces gaining him fame.

In 1995, Zubeen ventured in Bollywood with Suniel Shetty and Sonali Bendre starrer film 'Gaddaar' and next he got to work alongside A. R. Rahman in 'Dil Se'. His most popular Hindi song till date is "Ya Ali" from film 'Gangster'. He has sang the vocals in 40 different languages which includes Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Nepali, Bodo, Mishing and many other regional dialects. He is considered as the most successful personality of North East after the legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika. His famous solo albums are Pakeeza, Zubeen's Zindagi, Yuhi Kabhi, Chandni Raat and Suneina amongst others. With this he has composed more than 1700 songs which also include some of the National Award winning tracks. He has lent his voice to sing the jingles of Hero Honda, Vimal Cloths and Green Liver advertisements.

In 2000, Zubeen marked his debut as an actor in an Assamese film 'Tumi Mur Matho Mur' which he had himself scripted and directed. He has acted in National award winning film 'Mon Jai'.

On the personal front, Zubeen is married to fashion designer Garima Saikia Garg, who is a renowned fashionista in Assamese Film industry.
