Bollywood began its 2018 with the release of three films, ‘Kaalakaandi’, ‘1921’ and ‘Mukkabaaz’, but looks like masses have not liked either of them. Released on 12th January, ‘Kaalakaandi’, ‘1921’ and ‘Mukkabaaz’ have failed to live up to the expectations of the audience. At least, the first-weekend collection of the three films suggest so.
Let us first talk about ‘Kaalakaandi’ which is a dark comedy having an ensemble star cast with Saif Ali Khan being the lead. Though the actors did a good job, audiences don’t show much love to the film. In its first weekend, ‘Kaalakaandi’ managed to earn Rs. 3.85 crores only. The day wise collections of ‘Kaalakaandi’ are as follows: Friday = Rs. 1.25 cr, Saturday = 1.20 cr and Sunday = 1.40 cr.
1921 is is a horror flick by Vikram Bhatt, and stars Zareen Khan and Karan Kundra. It’s a fourth film of the ‘1920’ franchise. This film too is not being received well by the critics as well as masses. In its first weekend, ‘1921’ earned a total of Rs. 6.45 crores. The day wise collections of the film are as follows: Friday = Rs. 1.56 cr, Saturday = 2.09 cr and Sunday = 2.80 cr.
Mukkabaaz is a sports drama film showcasing the emotion of vengeance. The Anurag Kashyap helmed film is being loved by the critics but the collections are just below average. In its first weekend, ‘Mukkabaaz’ earned a total of Rs. 4.04 crores. The day wise collections of the film are as follows: Friday = Rs. 82 lakhs, Saturday = 1.51 cr and Sunday = 1.71 cr.
