Lisa Ray

Lisa Ray aka Lisa Rani Ray in an Indo-Canadian actress and a fashion model. She was born on 4th April 1972. Lisa was born and brought up in Canada.Her father is a Bengali and her mother is Polish. Lisa began her career at at the tender age of 16 years. Lisa used to endorse Lakme cosmetics in India. She has appeared in many TV commercials before working in films.

Lisa started her career as an actress in 2001 with the film 'Kasoor' opposite Aftab Shivdasani. The film got mixed reviews from the critics. She then went to Tollywood to try her luck. Lisa has appeared in few south Indian films. She then appeared in an Indo Canadian film Bollywood/Hollywood by Deepa Mehta. It was a romantic romp. She came into limelight when she appeared in Deepa Mehta's controversial film 'Water'. Lisa was paired opposite John Abraham and the film was based on the lives of widows living in Varanasi Ashram in 1938. Her voice was dubbed in the post production of the film. She has done a cameo in one Pakistani film as well.

Lisa used to appear in television shows like 'Beauty Mantra' and 'Star Buzz'. Apart from appearing on television, she has endorsed a popular fabric brand too. She was seen in the music video Afreen for late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and in Har Taraf Tera Jalwa for Daler Mehandi.

Lisa further worked for many Canadian European and American films. She was diagnosed with the rare disease Multiple Myeloma ( a cancer of the bone marrow) but she got fully recovered from that. Apart from acting, Lisa is involved in many philanthropic activities and humanitarian work. She has got many awards for the same. Lisa got married to Jason Dehni in 2012.
