One-line Review: Deceased conjoined twin returns to haunt her surviving sister Positive Points: Decent use of visual effects, horrific location, Bipasha's spooky avatar Negative Points: Excessive use of creepy background score which sounds irritating after a point, Karan Singh Grover's raw acting skill Plot: Sanjana (Bipasha Basu) returns to her hometown in Kerala along with her husband Kabir (Karan Singh Grover), to assist her ailing mother. It is the same place which holds some bitter memories and haunting secrets from her past. Going by the flashback, Sanjana and Anjana (Bipasha Basu) were conjoined twins who shared bitter-sweet relationship with each other. In their childhood they had committed to stay together forever, but then things changed when Kabir came in their life and both the sisters got attracted towards him. However he responded to Sanjana, who eventually survived in the surgery of separation while Anjana died. Now Anjana is back to take the revenge of her death and snatch her lost love from Sanjana. Direction and other technical aspects: 'Alone' is the remake of 2007 Thai film of the similar name. Director Bhushan Patel has given it a bit of Indian touch by introducing "Tantriks" and "Vashikaran Mantra", other than this, the film is the carbon-copy of its original. He might have pulled the masses towards the theatres by highlighting passionate scenes in the promo; still he wins the like for remaining true to the horror genre. Using visual effect has to be the right choice in the scene like 'Rotating Bed'. Plus, choosing Kerala backwaters to unfold the spooky moves has given a beautiful dimension to the film's cinematography. Performances: Bipasha Basu has given a justified performance which has made her rightly adorn the "Horror Queen" tag. Besides revealing her hot body being victimized Sanjana, she looks dangerously stunning being in creepy Anjana's role. Karan Singh Grover has marked his film debut with 'Alone', but still his act is like that of a Television serial drama. All what he does the best is the flaunting of his chiseled body. Music: Being a horror film, 'Alone' has explored the music department in minimal with just four songs composed by Ankit Tiwari and Mithoon. Out of those handful tracks, sensuously shot "Awaara" and "Katra Katra" win the likes. Final Verdict: 'Alone' is not the best in horror genre of Bollywood, but is slightly above those mindless spooky films coming these days. The film has enough potential to give you the minor jerks on your seat.

Alone isn't as horrifically bad as most Bollywood horror flicks tend to be. But that obviously is not saying much. No matter how hard it tries, Alone, directed by Bhushan Patel of Ragini MMS fame, cannot break free from the constricted space that the genre allows. This scare fest is a remake of a 2007 Thai horror film about two conjoined twins who are literally torn apart by jealousy and violence when both fall in love with the same man. The conflict between the siblings transcends the here and now and takes on supernatural proportions as unrequited love assumes the shape of an angry spirit that returns to haunt the surviving sister and the man that she is married to.

Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover's horror flick is disappointing!
Scary is sexy but sadly Ms Basu doesn't live to up to her favourite phrase. No, I am not saying she doesn't look hot in the film, she does, but I went in thinking she would scare the hell out of me. And that just didn't happen. Read the full review of Alone below...

What's Good: The use of all possible creepy elements such as wooden doors that make noises, swing and an overall horrific location. Interestingly, Bhushan Patel manages to infuse a good amount of suspense in the film and stretches it to the very climax even though one starts getting the hints quite early on. The visual effects are quite decent and it seems Patel is getting the hang of it with every film.

The horrex (horror - sex) genre has been picking up steam of late with multiple films catering to this segment. Bhushan Patel, whose earlier tryst with the genre RAGINI MMS 2 proved to be pretty intriguing, returns with yet another film in the same genre with ALONE. While the film is a remake of a Thai film by the same name, ALONE is the story of Sanjana (Bipasha Basu) who is forced to return to Kerala with her husband Kabir (Karan Singh Grover) after her mother meets with an accident. When Sanjana, the survivor between conjoined twins comes home after years, she is thrown face first into her old life which is both painful and haunting.

A besotted wife, an over-busy husband, and a dark secret is bundled up and transported to a sprawling house in the Kerala backwaters. A locked outhouse opens one stormy night, and then.. The ingredients for a horror film are all there, but 'Alone' very quickly becomes a tussle between the scenes that want you to be scared and the sequences where you are supposed to slurp at all the eye candy: both the lead players are made to show acres of skin. In the face of smooth bare backs, and the rippling pecs and packs, what's a poor ghost to do?

Alone is better left that way
Alone is as good as a B-grade film, featuring several sequences that are very corny, says Paloma Sharma. The case in point today, ladies and gents, is a most unusual one. This pale-faced, pale-eyed being has been popping up on telly and cinema hall screens for a while now. Let's have a look at her file, shall we? Common Name: Bhoot, Sanjana, Anjana, Bipasha, Woh.

Bipasha Basu brings to you the best comedy of the year
Sanjana (Bipasha Basu) is hot and unemployed - the first is a fact, the latter an assumption given how frequently she irons her hair in a day so that her hair remains poker straight and silky at any and every moment in her day - has perennially red cheekbones, and married. A few minutes into Alone, Sanjana's husband Kabir (Karan Singh Grover) has sung her a song, fed her a cake in colours matching her white dress and red lips and we realise why Sanjana's standard expression is so, well, constipated. The woman misses her husband, who is obviously working hard to pay for rent, cake et al. A potentially relationship-changing conversation between the couple is cut short when a phone call informs them that Sanjana's mother has had a bimaari that has left her speechless and paralysed neck down.
