Anumpam Kher who wants his son (Anil Kapoor) to get married. His son agrees to his fathers wishes on the pre-condition that he will leave his wife after one year. Anumpam Kher agrees to the condition hoping that the period will tranform his son. He convinces his secretary (Kajol), the sole bread-winner of her family, to agree to the marriage. After a year of marriage, Anil Kapoor decides to end the relationship as per the agreement. The wife leaves the house and starts working again. Anil Kapoor, however, has a change of heart and wants her back, but Kajol refuses to relent.
