One Line Review: From bangles to blades, evil marks its end to beauty! Positive Points: Cinematography, the lead Mishti's pleasing screen presence and the negativity showered by the veterans Mithun Chakraborty and Rishi Kapoor. Negative Points: Prolonged first half with a slow pace. Plot: The cool breezes, green mountains and pleasant atmosphere; the heaven is here on the land of Koshampa. This is a place where the families of retired war heroes reside. All leaving a peaceful life, a tornado resides with them, Kaanchi (Mishti). The young girl has braveness in her blood as like her late officer father. Living her life with her own rules, no one including her mother is able to control this cyclone except her childhood love Binda (Kartik Aaryan), a son of a retired army man who runs his own training center for village kids. A place like heaven where angels reside, the devil's eye is sure to fall and so does happens when B.L. Kakkad (Rishi Kapoor), a tycoon wishes to build a project on the heaven. Getting support from his politico kingpin brother Kakkad Dada (Mithun Chakraborty) the duo now plans to plant the foundation for which they step on the pure land Koshampa. With them lands up politico Kakkad's only son (Rishabh Sinha), being an artist at heart he couldn't resist the majestic beauty of this land being painted on his canvas, for which he pleads Kaanchi to show him the locales. Eventually the formal deed turns into friendship and later the rich lad falls for the beauty. Merely, her heart already stolen by Binda, Kaanchi refuses his proposal and this leaves the brat all drenched and swollen; to an extent that he brutally kills Binda to conquer Kaanchi. Traumatized with the scenario, Kaanchi now pets revenge to her head and walks behind the culprit to his den, Mumbai. Using all the means she has, which is beauty and brains along with her childhood friend Bagula (Chandan Roy Sanyal) who is now a notorious cop in the city, Kaanchi is desperately awaiting to suck up the blood of the whole Kakkad dynasty to peace the soul of her beloved. Direction And Other Technical Aspects: The "Showman" Subhash Ghai is back to direction after long time. With his whole lot of experience, his technique remains the same and thus bores the viewers. This time around, Ghai has handled the venture right from scripting, direction to editing. The first half has few editing errors where the sound has not matched the visuals and thus came out as shock from Mr. Ghai. Speaking about the star cast, the team has not been that astonishing. Mishti, who faces the camera for the first time comes with a lot of confidence merely, misses the skill of dialogue delivery. Walking just behind her, the protagonist Kartik Aaryan is already two film old lad. With his previous outings projecting romantic chocolate boy image, his tough guy attire in this motion stuck through the throat and thus looks all made up, disappointing the masses. However, the sinking sail has decently managed to touch the shore on the shoulders of the veterans Mithun Chakraborty and Rishi Kapoor. Their depiction as antagonist has all dark shades to shed off, equally sparkled by the versatile Chandan Roy Sanyal who depicts a cunning cop. Performances: Mishti as an out spoken girl carries the character at its best. The language and attire perfectly matches her type, appearing as an rural beauty. The second half of a vengeful soul is equally justified by the newcomer. Kartik Aaryan as Binda has not much to offer to his fans. Earlier viewing the actor in much of romantic depiction, the rugged Kartik comes out odd except for the songs where he is into his secure zone of charming and alluring the female lead. Rishi Kapoor follows the character of a Casanova Business tycoon who has girls and money on his mind 24/7. The veteran has been able to depict the lust to its fullest on screen and thus becomes outstanding even among the young brigade. The wicked Kingmaker portrayed by Mithun Chakraborty has brought life to his character of Kakkad Dada. His body language and voice there itself pours out negativity out of his character. Last but not the least, Chandan Roy Sanyal as a fox minded cop is a bad body with pure soul. His wicked smile keeps the viewers on their toes to look out for what the fox actual thinks and does; eventually adding another appraising feather to his hat of versatility. Music: The album consists of a whopping nine tracks, of which hardly two or three holds strength to be recognizable. Composed by the ace music composer Ismail Darbar, the maestro chants old chords on a new age organ. The track list already being too long, the music has been too low to keep it on top compared to its competitors hence, proving it to be disappointing. Final Verdict: With a tough fight from yet another women centric flick 'Revolver Rani' and the past weekend outing '2 States' already alluring the masses, the revived Ghai treat 'Kaanchi' runs a track of thrones for its survival. With not much to offer apart from the showman's larger canvas and amazing cinematography, 'Kaanchi' is not that unique to bet your money on!
