<strong>Newcomers Armaan Jain and Deeksha Seth are likeable but the film lacks punch</strong><br/> When you walk into the theatre to watch a film that's premise promises a road trip, you're naturally excited. We've seen some good films in which a road trip forms the major crux of a story. Starting from Bombay To Goa leading up to Dil Chahta Hai, Jab We Met, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and the recently released, Highway.

<strong>'Lekar Hum Deewana Dil' delivers lower than expectations because of weak script</strong><br/> Boy meets girl love stories start off on the right note but often end up in a mess. Lekar Hum Deewana Dil sets out to try and showcase the subtle nuances and moments of a young relationship, but gets caught up in an attempt to reach a commercially viable end.

The scattered execution goes a step forward in dispersing an already scrambled plotline. The acting of its stars didn't seem praiseworthy either and the mediocre music is shockingly bad.

Honestly, it took us a while to put Lekar Hum... in a particular bracket. It's trailers and promos had us believe it is a 'romantic comedy'. After suffering two-and-a-half hours of this Armaan Jain-Deeksha Seth starrer, we thought it fitted the 'thriller' genre better. Why? Because nothing in the film falls in the realms of logic. Okay, correction. Lekar Hum... cannot even be called a thriller now.

The concept of boy and girl eloping and then getting married has been seen in many movies like Bobby, Love Story, Betaab, etc. But Imtiaz Ali gave everyone a different eloping romantic theory when he gave us films like Socha Na Tha and Jab We Met. His brother Arif Ali takes cues from both the genres and tries to develop a mid way.

Stories like Lekaar Hum Deewana Dil did very well in the '80s but that's just about when these concepts had begun to fade out. The problem with this film is that it has released late by a couple of decades.

<strong>The leads are enthusiastic but inept, though the girl has a little more promise than the boy</strong><br/> Boy doesn't meet girl, because he already knows her. They are college mates, so they josh and jabber, without realising that they, gasp, love each other. With the dawning of light, comes adventure and broadening of mind and vision. And a happily-ever-after.

A tiresome tale of a pair of barely-out-of-their-teens lovers who elope before they are ready for the resultant ordeal, Lekar Hum Deewana Dil is a runaway mess. The film takes ages to get to the point, and when it does it leaves you wondering what the whole point of the exercise really is.

Debutant director Arif Ali's Lekar Hum Deewana Dil is a sweet film that borrows the elopement theory from evergreen 70s'-80s' romances like Bobby, Love Story and Betaab. It even has shades of Arif's older brother Imtiaz's Jab We Met and Highway. But this has a mint-crisp feel with its .com lingo. The lack of melodrama, for most part of the movie, is also refreshing.

There are love stories. And there are romantic sagas helmed by makers like Yash Chopra and Imtiaz Ali. Imtiaz Ali -- in particular from the present league of storytellers -- has tackled modern relationships most adroitly. His brother, Arif Ali, now makes his big screen debut with a contemporary love story LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL. Like his brother, Arif too offers a realistic take on relationships, peppering the film with witty, charming and delightful moments. For most parts.
